February Style: Impressionism

When one hears the term “impressionism,” they likely think of such famous artists as Monet, Sisley, Cézanne, and others. This art movement from the 19th century is often considered the first distinctly modern movement in painting. Because of that, it’s no surprise interior designers have found inspiration from this style.

Impressionist paintings are characterized by light, pure, intense colors and realistic, ordinary subject matter. The artists who adopted this style were considered radicals in their time, as the techniques violated the rules of academic painting at the time.

When it comes to interior design, Century Furniture wanted to adapt some of these concepts and, for their latest style collection, focused on a key element of impressionism: the depiction of a real feeling. Here’s a bit about the style as told by Century Furniture:

They say impressionism captures a feeling or experience. Well, this story will have you feeling like you are floating on a cloud. Light and dreamy watercolors and patterns with subtle hints of citron blend the pieces together to create a unique style story.
