Just as with most types of furniture, there are lots of options when it comes to choosing a bed. To some it may sound silly to put so much time into choosing a style of bed. Think about it, though – you spend a lot of time in your bed; about a quarter to a third of your life. You may not see your bed while you’re sleeping, but it’s one of the last things you see before you fall asleep and one of the first things you see when you wake up. At Warren Barnett Interiors, our Milwaukee interior designers are here to help you find the style of bed that suits your tastes.
Platform
One of the oldest styles of beds, platforms are generally low to the ground and are simple in design. These beds are a great choice if you’re going for a minimalist, clean look.
Four Poster/Canopy
These beds are often used to create a dramatic look and feature posts on each corner of the bed frame. Canopy beds also have posts that make a rectangle at the top of the posts and can be draped with fabric. A four poster is a great choice for those trying to create an elegant, regal space and come in a variety of styles from modern to traditional.
Upholstered
One of the most popular choices at the moment, upholstered beds can be a bit more relaxed and casual, turning your headboard into a comfortable, functional part of the bed.
Sleigh
These beds, also known as French beds, feature scrolled head- and foot-boards. They are a great option for larger rooms, as the substantial frame creates a focal point for the room.
Daybed
For smaller spaces that need to be multi-functional, daybeds are a great option. They generally have rails on three sides and work great for dens or guest rooms. When not used for sleeping, they can be disguised as a couch with the use of throw pillows and blankets.
